The procedures that you must go
through to obtain your licence back are complicated. DRIVER TRAINING ACADEMY
will guide you through these procedures FREE OF CHARGE. Failure to obtain
this type of advice early may extend your cancellation period.
If you lose your licence for
a drink drive offence, it is important to contact DRIVER TRAINING ACADEMY
quickly.
The drink driver education program
is eight hours duration conducted over two sessions, a week apart.
Before the course starts, there
is a FREE INTERVIEW lasting about an hour, when you are
able to confirm your relevant and confidential information, explain any
of your special circumstances that you may wish to discuss, and you are provided with information in preparation
for the program.
After the course, there is a further
FREE PERSONAL INTERVIEW, also lasting about twenty minutes, when you obtain
your certificate, review the course information which is relevant to you,
set out your lifestyle goals and clarify what you need to do next.
Alcohol usage assessments are a
separate program from the drink driver education program. Only some
people are required to have Alcohol Usage Assessments.
The purpose of the Alcohol Usage Assessments is to report to the court your alcohol use and your personnel progress over time.
The assessments takes into account a wide range of lifestyle and personal issues with a view to providing to the court an indication of your likelihood of re-offending.
Because, in some cases the law requires at least twelve months between your first and second Alcohol Usage Assessments, you need to book your First Assessment as early as possible in your licence cancellation period. In exceptional circumstances a magistrate may shorten the period between the Alcohol Usage Assessments.
An Alcohol Usage Assessment is conducted over about one hour, (allow an hour and a quarter). Some people may be referred for counselling or other treatment as directed by the assessor.
For some people further Alcohol Usage Assessments are required. These measures your progress over time.
Those
on the Alcohol Usage Assessment program receive a court report prepared
by the assessors and your drink drive education presenter. This report is
provided to the magistrate prior to the Licence Restoration Order Hearing.
The aim of this program is to assist participants to make positive, permanent changes to their lifestyle. A personal motivation approach is taken with DRIVER TRAINING ACADEMY'S program.
The purpose is to help you live more effectively. It provides you with strategies to improve the way you think and feel about important issues in your life.
If a person is booked for a drink driver offence, it doesn't follow that they have an alcohol problem. However, it may be symptomatic of other problems, such as relationship, vocational, health or personal issues.
Participants are encouraged and assisted to find solutions to these problems and to gain skills in effective living.
