Hopkins River The hopkins river around Warrnambool is regarded as a top waterway by many a fisherperson in the south west. Hopkins estuary fish caught include bream, estuary perch, mulloway, mullet, eels, silver trevally and small salmon. Hopkins river freshwater-fish caught are brown trought, estuary perch, redfin, eels, grayling, tench, tupong, blackfish and the odd golden perch.Open to boat and bank fishing.
Curdies River Regarded as a top Bream waterway by our members.Estuarywater extends 16km upstream to CurdieVale, from the mouth at the town of Peterbough.Carries bream, mullet, estuary perch, salmon, eels and the odd small trevally. Freshwater extends upsteam from Curdievale.Possable catches include trout, the odd black fish and eels.Boat and bank fishing available.
Salt Creek A small creek where its orings start at Lake Bolac to the north of Terang.It makes its way south where it joins the Hopkins River .Possible catches are yellowbelly(golden perch), brown trout, redfin, eels and the odd native blackfish.
Elingamite Late Situated near the town of Cobden, Lake Elingamite offers an excellant trout fishery with trophy sized brown and rainbow trout to be caught.Also contains a large population of redfin.Boat fishing advisable. Bank fishing dangerous due to a soft mud bottom and extensive weed beds.
Lake Purrumbette A deep volcanic lake near Camperdown has been regarded as one of the states top trout fishing waters for many years. Yeilds good quality rainbow and brown trout, chinook salmon, average redfin and eels. Boat fishing yes but limited bank access.
Lake Bullin Merri Lake Bullin Merri has been regarded by many as a top class trout and salmon fishery.The lake is situated some 3 km south west of the town of Camperdown. In recent years lake Bullin Merri has been stocked with the addition of native fish.We all hope lake Bullin Merri over the years to come will become a renowed southern native fishery.
